James is from London and retired from international ski racing at the age of 19. He is now an Alpine Race Coach having coached for the British Ski Academy and then the British Children's Team where he has used his racing experience and high level coaching qualifications (Alpine Performance Coach Level 3) to benefit Britain's young racers.
James started skiing with his family as a child and his natural ability was soon recognised. By the age of 12 he began competing at an international level for the British Childrens team, eventually skiing full time for 3 years with the British Alpine Development Team.
Even though his racing career eventually came to an end his love for the sport never died. James's focus turned to Race Coaching and Snowsports instruction. With BASI Level 4 ISTD Carte Professionnelle, Level 3 ISIA Telemark, Level 1 Snowboard, Level 1 Adaptive and Alpine Performance Coach Level 3 under his belt since stopping racing in 2006.
After getting his first Basi qualification, what is now the Alpine Level 2 Instructor Qualification, James went to work in the French alps as a ski instructor for the ESF in Valmeinier.
In 2008 James became an official Opener for the Euro test and is currently calibrated as an opener. James has also added a UK Sports & Conditioning qualification which when added to his Sports Massage level 3 has proved beneficial during training camps.
